Netherlands Womens Cricket - 2016 Season

Netherlands Women

Netherlands women back in UK in 2017

Despite earlier messages the Netherlands women's cricket XI will after all take part in the ECB One Day League, division 3, group C. Opponents are mostly counties in the Essex region - the odd one out is Shropshire which lies a lot further to the West.

The match schedule is based in and around May, with a finals weekend 27/28 August 2017. The Netherlands is looking forward to playing Cambridgheshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire (a well-known adversary, which in the past has made for some great and exciting matches) and Shropshire.

Team captain this year will be Heather Siegers, as the experienced Esther de Lange has moved to London to take up a job with ICC Europe. She will lead a young, but by now more experienced team, although openers Miranda Veringmeier (shoulder injury) and young Sterre Kalis (playing for Essex) are out. Middle-order batsman Juliet Post suffered a broken ankle in the Easter training camp.
Coach is Sean Trouw, who will be assisted by the successful former Netherlands captain Helmien Rambaldo.

With a well-organised preparation, the team is certain it will perform well in this league. This kind of international cricket is very important for (the development of) the national side.
